MEDIA ADVISORY: Local Jazz Ensemble to Perform Concert at UT Tyler

The Jazz Connection, a local jazz ensemble, will perform at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8 in The University of Texas at Tyler University Center theater, Dr. John Webb, UT Tyler director of jazz studies, announced.

The public concert will feature songs by jazz greats Horace Silver, Herbie Hancock, Freddie Hubbard, John Coltrane, Cannonball Adderley and Eddie Harris. The group, founded by Webb, also will play original compositions.

Musicians are Webb, J.T. Pundt, Eastman Chemical engineer; George Faber, Tyler Independent School District director of visual and performing arts; Alex Blair, TISD orchestra director at John Tyler High School and Dogan Middle School; and Chauncey Smith, professional musician.
