In conjunction with the Tyler Area P-16 Council, The University of Texas at Tyler Ingenuity Center will hold a Math and Science Focus Workshop for teachers and faculty members on Friday, Oct. 28 in the UT Tyler University Center ballroom, Dr. Michael Odell, UT Tyler Ingenuity Center executive director, announced.
Faculty from UT Tyler, Tyler Junior College, Texas College, Tyler Independent School District as well as Chapel Hill ISD and Lindale ISD will participate.
“P-12 faculty and college faculty do not generally have much opportunity to meet and discuss the content and instructional strategies of their classrooms,” said Kristian Trampus, UT Tyler Ingenuity Center Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics initiatives director. “This event is the latest in an ongoing effort to foster a fruitful dialogue between them. This effort is meant to support the elucidation of both through collaborative means to better serve our students.”
The tentative agenda will be as follows:
- 8:30 – 9 a.m. Registration.
- 9 a.m. Welcome and Workshop Series.
- Noon Lunch.
- 1:15 p.m. Workshop Series.
- 3 p.m. Closing.
“Bringing the faculty together to analyze, assess and discuss the standards and their impact on and inclusion in both respective curricula is imperative in achieving this goal and in serving our students in their preparation for success in college and/or career,” Trampus added.
