The University of Texas at Tyler will offer a travel study to Israel for the spring 2012 semester, Dr. Jill E. Blondin, Center for Global Education director, announced.
Led by Dr. Martin Slann, College of Arts and Sciences dean, the UT Tyler Israel/Palestine Study Tour may be counted as three undergraduate- or graduate-level semester hours in political science or interdisciplinary elective credit for university students. Cost is $3,750 and includes ground transportation, room and board and most meals.
The class will meet weekly to prepare for the trip. Participants will travel March 8 – 18, 2012 and study Israeli and Palestinian components. They also will visit biblical and historical sites and meet with area dignitaries, scholars and journalists.
“Students would register for the class as part of their normal load and submit a research project and provide a presentation after returning from the trip,” said Slann, a political science professor who holds expertise in Middle Eastern affairs. “The entire course, both here and abroad, will be conducted in English.”
Limited scholarship and financial aid funds are available.
