Cassity Walter of Baytown is one of 23 students at The University of Texas at Tyler who have been admitted to its new executive master of public administration in health care administration degree program for the fall 2011 semester, Dr. Martin Slann, College of Arts and Sciences dean, announced.
Offered within the UT Tyler Department of Social Sciences, the hybrid program is designed for busy health care professionals and administrators who have reached a point in their careers where they need advanced skills and knowledge to manage staff, organizations and health systems.
“The University of Texas at Tyler is excited to bring the first executive health care administration program to East Texas. As the American health care industry continues to grow into the 21st century, we are proud to play a role in developing tomorrow’s health care leaders,” said Kerrie Anne Ambort, program coordinator.
The classroom portion of each course is taught in an intensive week with the remainder of the course delivered online. Students begin in the fall semester, complete 36 credit hours in 12 courses and graduate 16 months later in December of the next academic year, Ambort added.
Students have diverse backgrounds to include hospital administrators, physicians, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, social workers, nursing facility administrators and consultants.
