NEWS TIP: Community Bike Program Begins at UT Tyler

This fall, The University of Texas at Tyler recreational sports department has implemented a community bicycle program to encourage the UT Tyler community to use alternative transportation around campus.

“The community bike program is important because it will give students, staff and faculty an option to get around campus quickly without using their cars,” said Chauncey Deller, UT Tyler recreational program assistant. “This should ease parking woes as well as expose a greater portion of the campus community to the joys of alternative transportation, while bringing a stronger campus pride associated with the community property.”

The 15 blue bicycles are available at the various bike racks located on campus, Deller added.

A Dallas charity called Spokes for Folks donated the bicycles to UT Tyler.
