The University of Texas at Tyler will hold its Fall 2011 New Graduate Student Orientation Saturday, Aug. 20.
The orientation will be 9 a.m. – noon at the UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road in Tyler.
“We encourage all new graduate students to attend, whether they are UT Tyler graduates or new to UT Tyler,” said Dr. Alecia Wolf, director of graduate admissions and graduate student services. “Graduate Student Orientation is a great opportunity to get to know other students and the faculty. Our goal is to help get their graduate experience off to the right start by explaining the roles and responsibilities of graduate students.”
Interested graduate students may RSVP online at https://www.uttyler.edu/utsforms/gradeventregistration.html.
Participants will have an opportunity to meet with faculty in their departments during a free lunch sponsored by each of the university’s academic colleges. Faculty also will discuss expectations for graduate students, research opportunities, conferences and networking and career opportunities within the field. Representatives from the UT Tyler Office of Sponsored Research, Robert Muntz Library, computer and technology services, and the Enrollment Services Center also will be on hand to share information about general campus resources.
