The University of Texas at Tyler will host the 45th annual Spring Topology and Dynamical Systems Conference March 17 – 19, Dr. Sheldon Davis, Department of Mathematics chair, announced.
Five sessions in continuum theory, dynamical systems, geometric group theory, geometric topology and set-theoretic topology will be scheduled each day in the Ratliff Science and Engineering Complex. Seventeen countries will be represented. The National Science Foundation serves as sponsor.
Since its inception at Arizona State University in 1967, the annual Spring Topology and Dynamical Systems Conference has been one of the most successful annual mathematics conferences in the world.
“Many of the most famous results in topology have been announced at this conference,” said Davis. “This conference has also been the crucible in which applications to other areas of mathematics, such as analysis, algebra and theoretical computer science, have been forged.”
This year, the conference encourages participation from underrepresented groups in mathematics. Travel support has been provided for 23 graduate students and 20 young researchers who might otherwise be unable to attend, Davis added.
