Terra Bianchi has been named The University of Texas at Tyler university archivist, Jeanne Pyle, UT Tyler Robert R. Muntz Library director, announced.
She comes to the university after serving the Boston Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, Inc. for two years as a librarian/archives assistant.
As the UT Tyler university archivist, Bianchi will ensure all historically significant records, images, publications, audio visual materials and other documents at UT Tyler and the surrounding community are preserved and maintained for future access. She also will maintain proper arrangement and description of all materials so they are readily available to researchers.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to work at UT Tyler and look forward to the history we’ll discover,” said Bianchi. “I plan to develop programs for digitizing collections to create more online exhibits and will be implementing outreach programs so that more students, faculty and other researchers become aware of the materials we have and know they can utilize our resources.”
She currently is working to create documents that will assist university departments in understanding which materials have enduring value.
Bianchi holds a master of science in library and information science degree from Simmons College in Boston and a bachelor of arts in history degree from the University of Houston.
One of the 15 campuses of the UT System, UT Tyler offers excellence in teaching, research, artistic performance and community service.
