The GLOBE International Division, in partnership with the Ingenuity Center at The University of Texas at Tyler, will hold a community-wide GLOBE at Night “Star Hunt Party” 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24 on the UT Tyler Practice Soccer Field.
GLOBE at Night is an annual citizen-science campaign that encourages people around the world to record the brightness of their night sky. Additional information may be found at http://globe.gov/events/globe-at-night-2011.
The UT Tyler Star Hunt Party is one of many that will occur all around the world as part of the GLOBE at Night campaign.
“The goal of this event is to allow UT Tyler students and community members the opportunity to participate in the international GLOBE at Night Orion campaign and learn how to participate in future GLOBE star gazing events. Hopefully when students leave campus during Spring Break they will continue to take measurements, throughout the 2011 campaigns,” said Dr. Teresa Kennedy, UT Tyler professor and GLOBE International Division director.
Other engaging science activities for children and refreshments will be provided.
