MEDIA ADVISORY: Robotics Competition at UT Tyler Postponed

The University of Texas at Tyler College of Engineering and Computer Science has postponed the 2011 East Texas VEX Patriot Challenge robotics competition originally scheduled for Feb. 5, Kay Pleasant, competition coordinator, announced.

School districts have cancelled team participation in the contest this weekend due to the weather forecast for Friday.

“We are working on rescheduling the competition,” said Pleasant. “We are very disappointed but do not want to put teams, or our own volunteers and staff, in jeopardy Friday and early Saturday morning.

“Making the decision now allows us time to regroup, step back and see what possibilities are available. Thank you all for your support in our efforts,” she added.
