MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler to Host Robotics Competition for Middle, High School Students

The University of Texas at Tyler College of Engineering and Computer Science will host the 2011 East Texas VEX Patriot Challenge robotics competition Saturday, Feb. 5 at the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center, Kay Pleasant, competition coordinator, announced.

There are 33 teams of middle and high school students registered to attend. Students, with guidance from their teachers and mentors, will aim to build the most innovative robots possible and work together to obtain the most points possible.

Check-in begins at 7:30 a.m. with a closing ceremony at 5 p.m.

This competition is a qualifying event for the VEX World Championships to be held in April in Orlando, Fla.
