UT Tyler Offers Travel Study Course to Japan

The University of Texas at Tyler will offer a travel study course to Japan this summer, Dr. Dennis Cali, Department of Communication chair, announced.
The course titled “Japanese Communication and Theory” may be counted as three undergraduate or graduate-level credit hours. The tentative travel dates are May 16 – May 31, 2011. Students will visit Tokyo, Hiroshima and Kyoto, among other areas. They also will hold class discussions, participate in cultural activities and socialize with students at Shimane University.
Cost is $3,000 plus tuition and includes airfare, accommodations, transportation, travel insurance, activities and some meals.
“The course numbers available allow students of all majors to earn credits toward their own degree program,” said Dr. Naomi Kagawa, assistant professor of communication and course instructor. “There is no language requirement or prerequisite.”
A $2,000 payment is due Tuesday, Feb. 15, and $1,000 is due Tuesday, March 15.Grant availability is pending.
