The University of Texas at Tyler will hold a Texas Forensics Association high school debate contest Dec. 10 – 11, Dr. Charles Walts, director of forensics, announced.

The tournament, which will feature individual and team events, is co-hosted by UT Tyler and Hallsville and Whitehouse High Schools.

It is the first Texas Forensics Association tournament held in Tyler. According to Walts, coaches at the respective schools encouraged Dallas-area schools to come to Tyler to compete in hopes to strengthen the competition East Texas brings to state and national tournaments.

Currently, 20 high schools from Dallas-Fort Worth and East Texas will participate. UT Tyler Debate Team members will assist with the meet, Walts added.

For more information, contact Walts, 903.565.5627 or CWalts@uttyler.edu.
