Noah Miles, lecturer in English and Japanese at The University of Texas at Tyler, has received one of two international scholarships to facilitate a study abroad agreement between UT Tyler and a Japanese university.
This past summer, he traveled to Akita International University to investigate the facilities and experience the unique culture of the Tohoku region of Japan. The Japanese Language Scholarship Foundation awarded the scholarship in the amount of $5,000.
Miles started both Japanese language programs at UT Tyler and Tyler Junior College. He has led travel study courses in Japan, started an anime club and is currently teaching first and second year Japanese at UT Tyler and TJC.
