The University of Texas at Tyler will hold the Economic Forecast Summit Friday, Oct. 1 at the Ornelas Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road.
The public event will be 10 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and feature keynote speaker Dr. Robert Gilmer, vice president and senior economist for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, who will present “Texas and the Economic Recovery.”
“Both our nation and our state are just beginning to see some positive signs after a long and deep economic recession. What we hope is that the information we provide will allow business owners and operators to adjust their strategic plans so that East Texas can enjoy a more accelerated recovery than the rest of the nation,” said Dr. Harold Doty, College of Business and Technology dean.
Panelists are District 7 Rep. Tommy Merritt, Gregg County judge Bill Stoudt and City of Tyler mayor Barbara Bass.
Agenda items include:
• 10 a.m. Welcome: UT Tyler President Rodney Mabry and Doty.
• 10:30 a.m. Panel discussion Q&A and introductions: Felicity Reedy, College of Business and Technology Corporate Advisory Board chair
• 11:45 a.m. Lunch
• 12:15 p.m. Introduction of Gilmer: Jeff Austin III, Austin Bank, NA, Jacksonville, Texas vice-chair and 2010-11 Texas Bankers Association chair
• 12:17 p.m. “Texas and the Economic Recovery”
• 1:15 p.m. Q&A
