As part of 2010 September Project events, The University of Texas at Tyler Robert R. Muntz Library will hold a film screening of Charlie Wilson’s War.
The public event begins at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 at Muntz Library, room 401.
The film presents the story of East Texas Congressman Charlie Wilson’s covert dealings in Afghanistan, where his efforts to assist rebels in their war with the Soviets have some unforeseen and long-reaching effects.
Dr. James Newsom, senior lecturer in history, will serve as guest speaker and provide film context.
Since 2004, the September Project brings libraries across the world to organize events about freedom and issues that matter to their communities during the month of September.
