The University of Texas at Tyler will hold a news conference featuring Nobel Peace Prize recipient and former Costa Rican President Oscar Arias at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21 in the UT Tyler Braithwaite Recital Hall. (The recital hall is located on the north side of the Cowan Center.)
A student seminar with President Arias will follow at 5 p.m. in the recital hall.
Sponsored by Sherilyn and Patrick Willis, the lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21. Media sponsors are Suddenlink, CBS 19 and KTBB.
Arias’ topic for the lecture will be “Moral Leadership in Today's World.”

Arias served two terms as president of Costa Rica, 1986 – 90 and 2006 – 2010.
A 1987 Nobel Peace Laureate, he holds international status as a spokesperson for the developing world. He champions such issues as human development, democracy and demilitarization, and he has traveled the globe spreading a message of peace.
He earned the Nobel Peace Prize for work that culminated in the signing of the Esquipulas II Accords, or the Procedure to Establish a Firm and Lasting Peace in Central America.
