UT Tyler Enhances Registration, Student Business Services with One-Stop Shop

Editor’s Note: In efforts to continue providing quality customer service, The University of Texas at Tyler has begun implementing several enhancements in student-oriented areas.


The University of Texas at Tyler will enhance student business services and the enrollment management process with the creation of a one-stop shop, UT Tyler President Rodney Mabry announced.

The UT Tyler One-Stop Shop Service Center, which will be housed on the second floor of the Administration Building, will give students a centralized location to handle admissions, financial aid and registrar needs at one, convenient station. Enrollment management staff will be crossed-trained to become knowledgeable in all three areas.

“Providing seamless and integrated student services in the areas of enrollment, registration, financial aid, billing and student accounts receivable is a struggle for every higher education institution,” said Charlie Hutchins, assistant vice president for enrollment management, marketing and customer service. “Integrating this format allows you to personalize service and change the administrative experience of students, providing them with the tools they need to easily manage their education.”

Work by Nouveau Construction began this month and is expected to be completed in the fall.

The One-Stop Shop supports student recruitment and retention efforts by immediately, clearly and accurately responding to the applicants’ and students’ initial questions, he added.

Students will be directed to the self-service area in the One-Stop Shop to make payments online or to the UT Tyler cashier’s office to make other payment arrangements.

The UT Tyler Office of Financial Aid has temporarily moved to the Administration Building, room 348. Phone numbers and email addresses remain the same for all financial aid office staff.

The second floor of the Administration Building where enrollment services are housed also will see renovations.

“In preparation for the renovation, all services for financial aid, scholarships and veterans affairs will be conducted from the new location. The former space will house enrollment services, which includes admissions, financial aid and the registrar’s office,” Hutchins said. “The space is being redesigned to provide admissions counselors with office space to meet with potential students and their families, accommodate expansion of the registrar’s office and house financial aid, which has temporarily moved where construction can take place. The cashier’s office will remain in its current location.”
