NEWS TIP: Art Installation Project Featured at UT Tyler Fine Arts Complex

Three art students at The University of Texas at Tyler have featured artwork in an installation presentation at the UT Tyler Fine Arts Complex through Friday, Aug. 11, Ray Sikes, Meadows Gallery Coordinator, announced.
“This is an installation that features the creative ideas and concepts of three students – an undergraduate, a graduating senior and a graduate student – in a collaborative manner,” Sikes said. “The installation also expands the possibilities for use of the new art complex giving others a preview for further use.”
An opening reception will be 5 – 7 p.m. Friday, May 7 at the UT Tyler Fine Arts Complex Gallery, room 109. Student-artists are sophomore Sara Bruce of Tyler, senior Abby Hicks of Tyler and second-year graduate student Brandon Nepote of Joplin, Mo.
The students’ idea to create the installation was above and beyond what was assigned or required of them, according to Sikes.
“The work fills the new student gallery with drawings, poured concrete objects, decorative tape, wall mountings, etc. It meshes several art forms, creating its own genre,” he added.
