HOMETOWN RELEASE: Jacksonville Resident Represents UT Tyler Art Program in Area Venue
April Denice Bruner of Jacksonville, a junior studio art major at The University of Texas at Tyler, was among featured UT Tyler student-artists who were recognized for their artwork in the City of Tyler’s Gallery Main Street venue.
Bruner sold her works “Fermatta” and “Odd Meter” and was recognized for
“Hooks and Riffs.” In addition, she has made contacts regarding future commissioned artwork.
Her participation was the result of an outreach program conducted by gallery curator Laura Westgate, who went to area institutions of higher learning to speak about the gallery and its exhibits.
“We are grateful that these highly skilled young artists have chosen to participate in our downtown arts program,” said Beverly Abell, City of Tyler Main Street department director, in a previous press release. “In addition to our well-established professional artists who have been working in the arts for years, we are also able to showcase the work of these up-and-coming young artists.”
Bruner plans to graduate in December 2011.
