MEDIA ADVISORY: 2010 UT Tyler BIG Idea Challenge
The University of Texas at Tyler School of Business Administration will hold the 2010 BIG Idea Challenge Friday, April 23 in the University Center Ballroom.
Student teams will envision an innovative business idea, develop it into a written business plan and present their idea to a panel of judges representing the business community.
Program:
- 1 p.m. Welcome – Dr. Isaura Flores, UT Tyler assistant professor of management and competition director.
- 1:15 p.m. Remarks – Dr. Harold Doty, UT Tyler College of Business and Technology dean.
- 1:30 p.m. Team presentations.
- 3:30 p.m. Judges select winners.
- 4 p.m. Awards/cash prizes presentation.
“This competition seeks to encourage entrepreneurial innovations in college and university students in East Texas,” said Flores. “Those involved in the competition will gain access to network of successful entrepreneurs, lenders and investors and have the opportunity to learn greater team-building and business planning skills.”
This year’s judges are Dr. Greg Clary, Texas Center for Rural Entrepreneurship director; Don Proudfoot, Tyler Junior College Small Business Development Center director; Price Arrendondo, Tyler Area Chamber of Commerce – Hispanic Business Services director; and Ronda Reynolds, UT Tyler technology commercialization manager.
