UT Tyler Biology Lab Students to Present Research Papers

Four graduate students of the biology lab of Dr. John Placyk, assistant professor of biology at The University of Texas at Tyler, will present research papers at a national conference, Dr. Alisa White, College of Arts and Sciences dean, announced.
Bradley Martin of Palestine, Jamie Cantrell of Mississippi, Katie Patrick of Iowa and Sheri Sanders of Ohio and will give presentations at the 57th Annual Meeting of the Southwestern Association of Naturalists April 22 – 24 in Junction.
The students, under the supervision of Placyk, will discuss research findings on the ecology, evolution, behavior and conservation of various reptiles and birds.
Cantrell will graduate in May 2010, Sanders will graduate in August 2010 and Martin and Patrick will graduate in 2011, all with a master of science degree in biology.
Secondary authors include UT Tyler alumnus David Kimberly, graduate student Julia Sonn and UT Tyler faculty members Dr. James Koukl, professor of biology, Dr. Lance Williams, associate professor of biology; and Dr. Troy Anderson, assistant professor of biology.
