MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler to Hold Art Symposium and Juried Art Competition

The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Art and Art History will hold the 2010 Art Symposium and Juried Art Competition for promising transfer art students 9 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Friday, March 5 at the Fine Arts Complex.

“The purpose of the symposium is to acquaint promising transfer students with our department and program offers, meet and talk with art faculty and tour our new facilities,” said Merrie Wright, UT Tyler assistant professor of art and event co-coordinator. “The event will also give students a chance to show their art work in a juried exhibition with awards and scholarship opportunities.”

Schedule:

• 9 – 10 a.m. Welcome and introductions, Fine Arts Complex, room 112
• 10 – 11:30 a.m. Tour of facilities and demonstrations
• 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Lunch, scholarships and award presentations, ARC 112

The exhibition will be on view in the UT Tyler Meadows Gallery.
