HOMETOWN RELEASE: Hallsville Resident Wins UT Tyler Research Support in Competition

Brianna Moore of Hallsville, an undergraduate at The University of Texas at Tyler, has won research support through a competitive university competition, Dr. Arlene Horne, vice president for research and federal relations, announced.

Moore was one of 20 student-researchers who received funding for research projects this semester. She received $507.30 for his research titled “The Impact of Diet and Body Image on Health in Suburban Adolescent Females.”  Her faculty sponsor is Dr. William Sorensen, UT Tyler assistant professor of health and kinesiology.

The student researcher could be funded up to $500 for his or her research, and the faculty sponsor of the winning students would also be funded for $300 for project support. Later this semester, the students will compete for prizes in a final poster competition displaying their research results.

Funds will be used to cover project-related expenses, such as wages, supplies and equipment.

Out of 43 applications submitted, 21 were graduate-level and 22 were undergraduate.

Faculty sponsors certified each project. The UT Tyler Research Council reviewed proposals.

Sponsors include the UT Tyler Office of Sponsored Research and the Office of Graduate Studies.
