MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler Fine Arts Complex Dedication Ceremony Feb. 25
A class in the UT Tyler Fine Arts Complex
The University of Texas at Tyler Fine Arts Complex public dedication ceremony will be 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25 at the complex, Dr. Alisa White, College of Arts and Sciences dean, announced.
A tour of the facilities and open house will follow the ceremony. A celebration reception featuring the UT Tyler Jazz Patriots Combo will be at 5 p.m. in the Vaughn Art Lecture Hall.
The complex provides an additional 29,000 square-footage surrounding the existing art studio on the main campus. Features include a 120-seat lecture hall, 20-seat seminar room, seven studio classrooms and storage and office spaces for the UT Tyler Department of Art and Art History.
"The Department of Art and Art History is already known for our exceptional faculty and programs, and now we have the facilities to move forward and realize our growth potential,” said Gary Hatcher, professor and department chair.
- 3:30 p.m. UT Tyler President Rodney Mabry welcomes guests, and donor recognition is observed.
- Speakers in order of appearance:
Dr. Peter Fos, UT Tyler executive vice president for academic affairs;
Gregg Lassen, UT Tyler executive vice president for business affairs;
- Program concludes with ribbon cutting (by 4:15 p.m.)
- 5 p.m. Celebration reception.
Construction began September 2008 and was completed December 2009.
Programs of study are offered for students pursuing careers in art as well as those seeking to complement other areas of study with expanded knowledge and ability in visual art.
