HOMETOWN RELEASE: Denton Resident Awarded UT Tyler Volunteer Service Scholarship
John Paine of Denton, a graduate student at The University of Texas at Tyler, is one of seven fall 2009 recipients of a university volunteer service scholarship.
He received the Stella Crews and Douglas Erwin Dyer Endowed Scholarship for Community Service Award in the amount of $500.
To be considered for the award, applicants must hold a minimum 3.5 GPA and submitted a letter of recommendation and verification of community service participation this semester.
Paine, who is pursuing a master’s degree in biology at UT Tyler, will graduate in December 2010. He is a member of the Tri-Berta National Biological Honor Society. Paine plans to continue his education and obtain a Ph.D. in microbiology.
