MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler Awarded Grants to Start UTeach Program

The National Math and Science Institute will announce grants totaling $1.4 million awarded to The University of Texas at Tyler to implement a new UTeach program.

The announcement will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14 in the UT Tyler Ratliff Engineering Building South, room 4017.

UT Tyler will be the 15th campus nationwide to implement the program, which originated at UT Austin in 1997.

The Michael and Susan Dell Foundation donated $427,000 to help fund the new program and Texas Education Agency provided $973,000.

Originated at UT Austin in 1997, UTeach is designed to recruit, prepare and inspire a new generation of highly qualified math and science teachers.
