NEWS TIP: UT Tyler to Host American Society for Microbiology Meeting Nov. 5 - 7
The University of Texas at Tyler will host the annual American Society for Microbiology –Texas Branch Meeting Nov. 5 – 7, Dr. Ali Azghani, associate professor of biology, announced.
“This will be the organization’s first time in its 40-year history to meet at UT Tyler,” said Azghani, who will serve as meeting chair. “The event, to be held in the University Center and Braithwaite Building, will include research presentations by scientists throughout Texas, student presentations and workshops.”
Dr. Stan Maloy, San Diego State University College of Sciences dean and an expert in Salmonella virulence and genetics, will serve as the keynote speaker at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. The Saturday session will focus on infectious diseases and current treatments with talks by renowned local and national clinicians.
“We scheduled this particular session for the weekend so that our local physicians and professionals could attend as well,” Azghani added.
