NEWS TIP: UT Tyler to Hold Public Candlelight Vigil for Domestic Violence Awareness Day
In conjunction with Domestic Violence Awareness Month, The University of Texas at Tyler will hold Domestic Violence Awareness Day Tuesday, Oct. 13.
University students from Alpha Chi Omega, Campus Assault Response Effort, along with UT Tyler Wellness and Prevention Education staff and a representative from the East Texas Crisis Center, will hold a public candlelight vigil at 7 p.m. at the UT Tyler Robert R. Muntz Library Gardens.
The event is to support all individuals who have experienced or been affected by any form or degree of family and/or partner violence and remember those who have been lost to domestic violence.
In case of rain, the candlelight vigil will be held in Muntz Library, room 401.
CARE students and Wellness and Prevention Education staff will provide the campus community with free purple ribbons and literature about domestic violence, healthy relationships, sexual assault, men’s involvement in prevention, UT Tyler CARE, campus police services and the East Texas Crisis Center 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. that day.
