The University of Texas at Tyler will hold its Fall 2009 New Graduate Student Orientation Saturday, Aug. 22.
The orientation will be 9 a.m. – noon at the UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road in Tyler.
Graduate-level students will have an opportunity to meet with faculty in their departments during a free lunch sponsored by each of the university’s academic colleges. Faculty also will discuss expectations for graduate students, research opportunities, conferences and networking and career opportunities within the field.
For reservations, those interested must e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call 903.566.7457 no later than Saturday, Aug. 15.
Representatives from the UT Tyler Office of Sponsored Research, Robert Muntz Library, campus bookstore and computer and technology and financial aid departments also will be on hand to share information about general campus resources.
“In an effort to ‘go green,’ all attendees will receive an eco-friendly, free USB drive containing many of their orientation materials,” said Dr. Alecia Wolf, UT Tyler graduate services coordinator.
