Juried Student Exhibition at UT Tyler Meadows Gallery Begins April 27

The 2009 Juried Student Exhibition at The University of Texas at Tyler Meadows Gallery will be April 27 – Aug. 14, Ray Sikes, Meadows Gallery coordinator, announced.
The annual public exhibition features work from UT Tyler students. Each student has submitted up to three two- or three-dimensional pieces to be juried by university art faculty.
A public opening reception will be 6 – 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 30 at the gallery.
The Meadows Gallery is located in the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
During the reception, cash prizes will be given to the best pieces in the exhibition. Awards include Best of Show, Best Two-Dimensional Work, Best Three-Dimensional Work and several honorable mention awards.

For the second year, a faculty selection committee will present a promising art student the Christopher Lyon Memorial Scholarship, which is named after the late husband of Alexis Serio, UT Tyler assistant professor of art history.
