UT Tyler Announces New Assistant Vice President for Enrollment Management and Marketing
John C. Hutchins has been named the new assistant vice president for enrollment management and marketing at The University of Texas at Tyler, Dr. Howard Patterson, vice president for student affairs, announced.
This appointment, effective June 1, replaces Jim Hutto who retired in December 2008.
“Charlie will be a great addition to our recruitment team. His vast experience in enrollment management will help UT Tyler continue to enroll high-ability students,” Patterson said.
Hutchins comes to UT Tyler after more than 20 years at the Noel-Levitz higher education consulting firm where he served as a senior consultant focused on enrollment management. Prior to joining Noel-Levitz, he was the vice president for enrollment management at North Carolina Wesleyan College.
His areas of expertise include recruitment and retention, predictive modeling, leveraging financial aid and staff training and development. His skills include market research and statistics, communications system design, technology design/development/implementation and Web design.
In his new position at UT Tyler, Hutchins will oversee the admissions and financial aid offices. His duties will include using of data, research and information technologies to implement and evaluate marketing and recruitment strategies and linking the strategic use of financial aid to student enrollment and retention.
Hutchins holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from Florida Atlantic University and a master’s of business administration degree from Tulane University.
