MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler to Recognize Patriots of the Year

The University of Texas at Tyler will hold its President’s Dinner Thursday, April 2 at the UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center.

UT Tyler President Rodney H. Mabry will introduce the 2009 Patriot of the Year Award recipients, Mr. and Mrs. Bob L. Herd.

Remarks also will be made by UT System Chancellor Francisco G. Cigarroa and Executive Vice Chancellor David B. Prior.

The Patriot of the Year Award is given to a couple or an individual who has made enduring contributions to the advancement o the university and the community.

Mr. and Mrs. Herd gifted UT Tyler with $1 million to establish the Mr. and Mrs. Bob L. Herd Endowed Presidential Scholarship. This significant gift comes at a time when endowed scholarships rank among the highest philanthropic priorities for the university.
