UT Tyler Names Assistant VP for Assessment, Institutional Effectiveness
Dr. Lou Ann Berman, assistant vice president for student life at The University of Texas at Tyler, has been named the university’s assistant vice president for assessment and institutional effectiveness, Dr. Peter Fos, provost and vice president for academic affairs, announced.
“Our university is maturing, and assessment is critical to our continued growth by enhancing our effectiveness in reaching our mission and goals,” Fos said. “With her previous experience as an academic dean, Lou Ann seemed the perfect choice for this position.”
In this new role, Berman will assist the university administration in developing new processes and tools to help further achieve and maintain institution-wide goals and help facilitate those assessment processes for academic departments and administrative units.
“I look forward to serving all of the academic programs and student support offices in this new capacity,” Berman said.
Berman assumed her new duties March 2 and will be in a transition period between the two positions for about six weeks. A search for the new assistant vice president for student life will be announced at a later date.
Berman holds a Ph.D. in health studies from Texas Woman’s University and a master of education in health and physical education from UT Tyler. Prior to coming to UT Tyler, she served as dean of allied health and nursing at Tyler Junior College for eight years and provided organizational leadership and support to 12 instructional programs.
