UT Tyler's Third Annual Greek Week Set
The University of Texas at Tyler’s third annual Greek Week is March 16 – 20, Ona Tolliver, director of student life and leadership, announced.
This year’s activities include a Greek banner competition, Guitar Hero tournament, a campuswide presentation of the movie, School of Rock, starring Jack Black and tailgate party at UT Tyler’s Irvin Field.
The UT Tyler Greek Week Steering Committee, consisting of five students, helped plan the week, which is themed “Greeks Rock UT Tyler” this year, according to Brittany Childs, student development specialist who oversees fraternity and sorority affairs.
“The purpose of Greek Week is to promote Greek unity through healthy competition and fellowship as a Greek community,” Childs said. “This is one of many traditions on campus that helps to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and sisterhood and create lasting memories of students’ Greek experiences at UT Tyler.”
The university implemented Greek life in 2006 and currently recognizes two fraternities and four sororities on campus.
