MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler University Center Addition Dedication March 5

A dedication ceremony for The University of Texas at Tyler’s University Center Addition will be 9 a.m. Thursday, March 5 in the UC Ballroom, room 224, President Rodney Mabry, announced.

Program:

• Welcome and introductions, President Mabry.

• National anthem, UT Tyler junior Lindsay Laperrière.

• Remarks by President Mabry; Honorable Joel Baker, Smith County judge; Michael O’Donnell, UT System associate vice chancellor for facilities, planning and construction; Dr. Howard Patterson, UT Tyler vice president for student affairs; and Kerrie Ambort, UT Tyler Student Government Association president.

• Ribbon cutting.

• Closing remarks.

At 35,000 square feet, the $15.3 million addition features a cafeteria-style dining hall and a ballroom/multi-use conference center. Other components in the three-story facility include a sports café, lounge and office space for the UT Tyler SGA and student affairs division. It opened Jan. 12, 2009.
