The University of Texas at Tyler will offer a camp to Maine and the surrounding areas July 20 – Aug. 1, 2009 through the university’s Outdoor Adventures program.
The camp is open to both UT Tyler students and the public. Cost for students is $850, which includes airfare, all activities, lodging/camping, a fitness program and most food or $500, which excludes airfare. Cost for non-students is $2,000 or $1,650, respectively.
Those interested may register at the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center membership office. Space is limited and sign-ups begin Monday, Feb. 16. Bob Hepler, UT Tyler HPC director and cross country coach, will lead the excursion.
“The UT Tyler New England Outdoor Adventure Camp is designed to exceed the expectation of even the most hardcore outdoor enthusiast,” said Hepler. “All campers will participate in a wide assortment of activities to fully explore New England including river rafting, kayaking, rock climbing, canoeing, hiking, mountain biking and swimming. In addition, there will be optional fitness opportunities each morning.”
Participants also will tour a lighthouse, attend a lobster boat cruise, visit Acadia National Park and have a lobster feed.
The UT Tyler Outdoor Adventures program began in 2005 to provide students with various fellowship opportunities in outdoor settings.
