MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler Educational Leadership Department Luncheon

Dr. David Fitts, superintendent at Pewitt Consolidated Independent School District and Region 8 Superintendent of the Year, will be recognized as the 2008 Distinguished Leadership Alumnus during The University of Texas at Tyler Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies 4th annual Leadership Alumni Conference to be held 8:30 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 11.

Lisa McCreary, Chapel Hill Middle School principal and spokesperson for Raise Your Hand Texas, will serve as a keynote speaker, and Fitts will deliver an address during the conference, which will be held at the UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center, 3402 Old Omen Road in Tyler.

Event schedule:

• 8:30 a.m. – Registration, networking breakfast.

• 9 a.m. – Welcome, alumni/principal mentors, special guests.

• 9:30 a.m. – 2008 Distinguished Leadership Alumnus, Fitts.      

• 10 a.m. - Raise Your Hand Texas, McCreary.

• 10:45 am. – Voices from the Field, Panel Discussion.
