Renee Lampkin Named to UT Tyler’s Academic Success Staff
Renee Lampkin has joined The University of Texas at Tyler Office of Academic Success as an academic adviser, Dana Welch, academic success director, announced.
Lampkin, a 2005 UT Tyler alumna, will work with freshman students who have selected College of Nursing and Health Sciences majors. She also will implement retention plans, assist students in course registration and work directly with academic departments to ensure student success.
Lampkin previously served the university as an admissions counselor in the UT Tyler Office of Admissions since August 2005.
“Renee joins an established team of freshman advisers who work to provide accurate course and degree information to students planning for their academic and vocational futures,” said Welch. “Her prior experience in the admissions office will be an asset as she continues to work with UT Tyler students in the Academic Advising Center. We are glad to have her as part of our team.”
Within UT Tyler’s academic affairs division, academic success provides centralized support for the college advisers as well as quality advising throughout a student’s four-year undergraduate experience.
“I look forward to working with freshman students during the difficult transition from high school to university,” said Lampkin. “I plan to ensure they thoroughly understand their degree choices and how to be successful at UT Tyler.”
Lampkin holds an associate of arts degree from Kilgore College and a bachelor of business administration with a concentration in management from UT Tyler.
One of the 15 campuses of the UT System, UT Tyler offers excellence in teaching, research, artistic performance and community service. Nearly 90 undergraduate and graduate degrees are available at UT Tyler, which has an enrollment of more than 6,000 high-ability students at its campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.
