Jennifer Skinner Named to UT Tyler's Student Life and Leadership Staff
Jennifer Skinner has joined The University of Texas at Tyler Office of Student Life and Leadership as a new student development specialist overseeing on-campus evening and weekend events, Ona Tolliver, student life and leadership director, announced.
“This new position supports Student Life and Leadership’s mission to promote involvement outside of the classroom by allowing our office to engage students in campus life beyond the nine to five,” said Tolliver. “It also allows us the unique opportunity to expand campus activities to include evenings and weekends. We are fortunate to have Jennifer on our team.”
Skinner, a 2005 UT Tyler alumna, previously served the university as assistant to the alumni affairs director since December 2007.
“It is so exciting to be apart of the growth at UT Tyler,” said Skinner. “I am getting to see the impact this office is having on the student population, and it proves to me that this university really cares about its students and their college experience.”
Skinner holds a bachelor of science in journalism and sociology from UT Tyler and currently is pursuing a master of arts in communications from the university.
Prior to joining the UT Tyler Office of Alumni Affairs, she served Northwood University in Cedar Hill as director of student activities. Skinner also served the UT Tyler Student Government Association and UT System Student Advisory Council as an executive officer and the UT Tyler Patriot Talon student newspaper as a contributing writer.
One of the 15 campuses of the UT System, UT Tyler offers excellence in teaching, research, artistic performance and community service. Nearly 90 undergraduate and graduate degrees are available at UT Tyler, which has an enrollment of more than 6,000 high-ability students at its campuses in Tyler, Longview and Palestine.
