MEDIA ADVISORY: Freshman/New Student Convocation Aug. 26

Dr. Yvonne Thornton, author of The Ditchdigger’s Daughters: A Black Family’s Astonishing Success Story, is the keynote speaker for The University of Texas at Tyler’s Freshman/New Student Convocation to be held Aug. 26.

The convocation will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. A book signing will follow.

Thornton’s book was the featured text in this year’s summer reading program.
