Jameson Adams Named UT Tyler Rec Sports Coordinator
Jameson Adams has been named recreational sports coordinator at The University of Texas at Tyler, Dr. Howard Patterson, vice president for student affairs, announced.
Adams, a native of Snellville, Ga., previously served as assistant facility manager and assistant coordinator of intramurals at State University of New York-New Paltz.
In this new capacity, Adams will oversee intramural sports, club sports and the UT Tyler Outdoors Adventures program. He also will assist in marketing each, both off and on campus.
“I’m looking forward to bringing new ideas and themes where the whole campus can be utilized for recreational sports,” Adams said. “We’re looking into not only marketing the program and recreational sports to students, faculty and staff, but also to local communities as well. I’m also assisting to help bring new opportunities in the Outdoors Adventures program.”
Created in 2005, Outdoor Adventures provides the campus fellowship and wellness while experiencing the outdoors. The program currently includes weekend and day outings to such places as Tyler State Park, as well as workshops and special events.
Adams holds a master of arts degree in sport and recreation management from Kent State University and a bachelor of arts degree in sport management from Cedarville University. He also holds a turf sports management certification from the University of Georgia.
