UT Tyler Meadows Gallery to Host Juried Student Show
The University of Texas at Tyler Meadows Gallery will host the 2008 Juried Student Exhibition April 28 through Aug. 1, Ray Sikes, Meadows Gallery coordinator, announced.
The annual exhibition features work from UT Tyler students. Each student may submit up to three two- or three-dimensional pieces to be juried by the UT Tyler art faculty.
The Meadows Gallery is located in the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center.
An opening reception will be 6 – 7:30 p.m. May 2 at the gallery. Refreshments will be served, and the public is invited to attend.
“The exhibition always features stellar works from the studio art year,” said Sikes. “Several awards will be given to the best pieces in the exhibition. The awards are cash prizes, which are always useful for a university student. The recognition of faculty and peers is also a nice surprise.”
This year, the Christopher Lyon Memorial Scholarship also will be awarded to a promising art student chosen by a faculty selection committee from the Department of Art and Art History.
