MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler 2008 Relay for Life

The University of Texas at Tyler Colleges Against Cancer student chapter will hold an American Cancer Society Relay For Life 7 p.m. – 7 a.m. April 18 – 19 in the UT Tyler Herrington Patriot Center gym.

There will be guest speakers, music and a time to remember those lost to cancer. A luminaria walk ceremony is set for 9 p.m. Friday, April 18.

Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate cancer survivorship and raise money for research and programs. About 25 university teams will participate this year. The public is invited to attend.

This year’s university event will honor the memory of the late Steve Wilson, information systems and communication director, and Dr. Darrell Pogue, associate professor of biology, both university employees who died of cancer this academic year.
