UT Tyler to Host Big Idea Challenge Competition
The University of Texas at Tyler School of Business Administration invites both university and area college students to participate in the first UT Tyler Big Idea Challenge Competition for a chance to win awards and cash prizes, Dr. Jim Tarter, College of Business and Technology dean, announced.
Student teams will envision an innovative business idea and present their idea to a panel of judges representing the business community. Students will obtain feedback and options to help them develop a complete business plan.
The competition takes place 2 – 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 in the UT Tyler Business Building, room 158. Students must pre-register for the event. Registration deadline is May 7.
First place will receive a $500 cash prize, and second place will receive $300.
“The competition seeks to encourage entrepreneurial innovations in our college and other institutions in East Texas,” said Dr. Isaura Flores, UT Tyler assistant professor of management and business competition director. “Those involved in the competition will gain access to networks of successful entrepreneurs, lenders and investors; have the opportunity to learn greater team-building and business planning skills and gain media exposure for their entrepreneurial goals.”
Local entrepreneurs and business owners are invited to participate as judges and/or sponsors, Flores added.
