MEDIA ADVISORY: UT Tyler Literature and Languages Department Conference

Medieval picture

The University of Texas at Tyler’s fourth annual College of Arts and Sciences Conference on Classical, Medieval and Renaissance Studies will be held March 21 – 22, Dr. Victor Scherb, literature and languages department chair, announced.

Various events and readings will take place at the UT Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center. Plenary speaker will be Scott Cantrell, music critic for the Dallas Morning News, and plenary performer will be Istanpitta.

Free and open to the public, the conference is intended to bring students, faculty and the local community together to discuss a range of issues concerning the Classical, Medieval and Renaissance periods and their continuing importance.

A staged reading will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, March 21 in the Braithwaite Recital Hall. On Saturday, morning sessions begin at 10:20 a.m. and afternoon sessions begin at 2 p.m. Cantrell will speak at 3:30 p.m. in the Braithwaite Recital Hall also on Saturday.
