MEDIA ADVISORY: Model UN Conference at UT Tyler Cowan Center

The Model United Nations Conference for area middle school and high school students will be Feb. 5 – 8 at The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center.

“UT Tyler is proud to host approximately 400 middle and high school students in Region VII who participate in the Model United Nations Program,” said Dr. Robert Stevens, UT Tyler professor of education, who also serves as the university’s Model UN Conference coordinator.

Participants will make presentations as representatives of a pre-selected country. Groups also will propose solutions to global problems within their represented countries and take part in debates.

Students will consider the respect and care for community of life, ecological integrity, social and economic justice and democracy, nonviolence and peace, Stevens added.
