Five Browns

Considered the biggest classical music sensation in years, The Five Browns will take the stage Jan. 14 at The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center, Susan Thomae-Morphew announced.

The brother and sister piano quintet will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the Cowan Center’s Vaughn Auditorium.

Tickets are $46, $36, $26, $21 and $16 at the Cowan Center box office. Box office hours are 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. For tickets call, 903.566.7424 or buy online at www.CowanCenter.org.

These Juilliard-trained piano virtuosos released their third album, Browns in Blue, in October 2007.

This album features atmospheric classical and jazz-inspired piano music, performed with the sublime virtuosity that propelled these twenty-something year old siblings -- Ryan, Melody, Gregory, Deondra and Desirae -- to the top of the nation's classical music charts.

Their debut album, The 5 Browns, spent eight weeks in 2005 at #1 on the Billboard Classical chart, and the next album also hit #1 for 21 weeks.

The Browns perform individually and together in various combinations from duo to complex five-piano arrangements.

Each child at around age three showed a talent and interest in piano lessons, and while the children were introduced to other instruments, their passion was the piano. Playing came naturally to them, and as early as age 9 they had each made their debut with a major symphony orchestra.
