UT Tyler Marketing Professor Wins Teaching Award
Dr. Barbara Ross Wooldridge, associate professor of marketing at The University of Texas at Tyler, has won the Houghton-Mifflin Pride/Ferrell Innovations in Teaching Marketing Award, Dr. Jim Tarter, UT Tyler College of Business and Technology dean, announced.
This is the second time for Wooldridge and the second time the university has received the international honor from the Society for Marketing Advances, which recognizes innovating teaching approaches in marketing annually.
SMA consists of both American and international marketing professors.
“Winning the award is tremendous as you are recognized by your peers for your innovation, but what makes it more amazing is that UT Tyler with a small marketing department of two associate professors has won the award back to back,” said Wooldridge. “I think students should know that marketing classes at UT Tyler are truly unique and innovative.”
Wooldridge, who currently serves as interim business chair at UT Tyler, holds a Ph.D. in business administration from Louisiana State University. She previously won the award while a faculty member at the University of Tampa in 2005.
“This gives incredible visibility and prestige to UT Tyler in the academic community,” said associate professor of marketing Dr. Kevin Shanahan, who took last year’s honor.
