The University of Texas at Tyler Palestine Campus development council will announce the public phase of its Paving the Way fundraising campaign at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at the Palestine Civic Center (1819 West Spring Street, Palestine – Hwy 287/19 North at Loop 256).
The development council is working with Texas Area Fund Foundation to benefit the future expansion of the UT Tyler Palestine Campus. The announcement is hosted by the Palestine Economic Development.
UT Tyler President Rodney H. Mabry will be the featured speaker.
Special guests include Todd Staples, commissioner of agriculture; Sen. Robert Nichols; and Rep. Byron Cook.
The Texas Legislature authorized $7 million in Tuition Revenue Bond funds for the construction of a new building at the campus, which will provide a state-of-the-art facility.
Barnes Gromatzky Kosarek Architects of Austin have begun the preliminary work on the project, which will include a master plan for future expansion.
Palestine community leaders purchased 50 acres of land south of the current campus on North Loop 256 on which the new building will be constructed.
